He told them we're making progress. To quote the article, he "Brushed aside concerns about violence and disorder in Iraq and told the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday that the country is making progress."
He brushedaside concerns about violence. Well, first off, we're at war with one of the most lethal countries in the world..Of course there's going to be violence!
He also stated that "It's very important for the people of the world really to know that we are winning, we are making progress in Iraq, we are defeating terrorists. Unfortunately, the media have not been covering these significant gains in Iraq."
Are we really 'winning the war', is the 'mission really accomplished?' No. Last time I checked, the media certainly wasn't covering significant gains in Iraq...But they were covering the last 2 beheadings of American soldiers. And the possible beheading of a British prisoner, today.
I'd say that's progress, wouldn't you? Why hasn't the country been uprising against this? Shouldn't we be more adamant about these beheadings? About this unjust war?
Bush went into this war with less than 25% of the U.N. in accordance with him. Therefore, the odds were terribly against him. Yet we went to Iraq anyway. With one allie, Britain. And even Tony Blair is starting to disagree, thinking this war really may not be such a good idea after all.
But Bush still continues to say it's improving, we're making our country safer. We're stopping terrorists. If anything, we're provoking them and endangering our country!
Every day, I think to myself: How can he lie to his country?
Then I hope against hope that we have a turn for the better come November.
